  • Nigel Denis Kayaks.

Through expeditioning and everyday use, Nigel became aware of the limitations of the kayaks currently on the market and began creating his own designs which he has manufactured since 1993. He introduced the offset day hatch to enable the unsupported paddler to access provisions whilst afloat. He also added the keyhole cockpit which allows for a faster and easier entry and exit compared to the original small ocean cockpit.

Nigel's kayaks have not only benefited from his own expertise, they have also been tried and tested in severe weather conditions and extreme temperature.

  • Kōkatat

    Kōkatat

In 1971 Kokatat began making paddle sports apparel and gear in Arcata, CA. Their founder and president, Steve O’Meara, recognized from the start that keeping production local was necessary in order to control quality and continually develop the finest and driest paddling apparel in the world. Today, over 90% of their annual revenue comes from the sales of products handmade in the Arcata factory (now 196 employees strong) and by local and regional manufacturing partners.

    Check out there wicked drywear!

I personally paddle a fully custom odyssey drysuit in all black (so it doesn’t show the dirt)

  • Lendal North America.

We have all filled out forms with boxes forcing us to categorize who we are. Here at Lendal we draw our own box, and label it “Other.” We are engineers, scientists, and athletes with backgrounds as diverse as the places we have paddled. We unite around our shared commitment and passion for adventure.

We balk at the word “no,” and cringe at the phrase “can’t be done.” We live to surf massive rapids, paddle over monstrous rollers, and take in another beautiful sunrise from the vantage point of our cockpit. When we aren’t in our kayaks you can find us ripping down singletrack on two wheels, finding God in two feet of fresh powder, or running an alpine ridgeline. Different is in our DNA.

Most importantly, we are never done improving our products, and that’s why we design and build the best paddles.

  • Gearlab Outdoors.

Gearlab Outdoors originates from Taiwan, a subtropical island in the great Pacific Ocean. We are located within an hour from rushing rivers, lush vegetation, craggy cliffs, and over 1000km of magnificent ocean shoreline.
A Greenland style paddle resembles a stick, which gradually flattens and widens toward the blade ends. This ancient style paddle served the Aleut and Inuit kayakers well for more than a thousand years. Gearlab has enhanced these traditional wood-carved paddles with precise engineering and high tech carbon fiber composite materials to create an unparalleled paddling experience.

“Less Force to Pull/Push & Less Resistant to Wind. Travel Further while Expending Less Energy.”

The long, slim shape of Greenland paddle blades require less force to pull/push through the water and are less resistant to wind. This leads to greater efficiency and a faster cadence, and allows paddlers to travel further while expending less energy.

The shape of Greenland blades offer greater control in the water because they are perfectly symmetrical and may be used for a variety of paddle strokes with ease, including the forward, backward and sweep strokes.

  • Xcel Wetsuits

    Xcel Wetsuits

Ed D’Ascoli founded Xcel in 1982, working from the bedroom of his Sunset Beach house. D’Ascoli found no shortage of inspiration from the world-class performances on display at his doorstep; and the opportunity to create and to connect high-performance products with the athletes who demanded them was irresistible. Xcel’s passionate focus on product development would become the defining characteristic of the brand.

Developing wetsuits in Hawaii came naturally to D’Ascoli, having grown up surfing New Jersey’s chilly Atlantic coasts. While temperate Hawaii waters rarely call for any more than 2mm neoprene, Sunset Beach and other North Shore breaks are incredibly challenging and demand world-class products for maximum performance.

    Wetsuits of choice: Women’s comp X hooded 3.5/4.5 & Freediver 5mm 2 piece.
